Description: Kingsblood Royal by Sinclair Lewis. New York: Random House, 1947. 1st Book Club Edition. Hardcover with dust jacket. Kingsblood Royal is a Novel written in 1947 that painted a disturbing picture of a racially divided America during the Second World War. Neil Kingsblood, a white World War II hero believes that his family tree is covered with royal ancestors but finds, to his distress, that he has African blood and resigns from the white race. The odyssey that ensues creates an unforgettable portrayal of two Americas, one black, one white. Harry Sinclair Lewis (1885–1951) was an American novelist and social critic who punctured American complacency with his broadly drawn, widely popular satirical novels. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1930, the first given to an American. During his lifetime, Harry Sinclair Lewis wrote over 100 short stories and twenty-three Novels. Lewis was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Arrowsmith, but famously declined it, saying that he didn’t believe in literary competition. CONDITION: This Book is in good condition.
