Description: Date: 1937 Artist: Unknown Size (in): 30 x 20 Size (cm): 102.87 x 71.76 Condition: B+/B Linen backed: No This is an original Great Depression era United States government poster issued to encourage participation in the 1937 Unemployment Census. According to the United States Census Bureau website the 1937 Unemployment Census was the first census in which the bureau used statistical sampling methods to estimate unemployment in the USA. A couple fills out their unemployment census long form as Uncle Sam provides gentle guidance and gestures towards a mailbox seemingly floating in space. This poster is a vintage original issued the United States Census Bureau for the innovative 1937 unemployment census. The lower margin indicates “McCandlish Litho Corporation, Phila, PA”. This poster has a small nick off the margin in the lower right hand corner not affecting the poster image and modest to moderate handling wear including a couple light diagonal crease lines. The color is vibrant and the poster displays beautifully. Overall condition is very good.
