Meredith Towne, son of the wealthy lock manufacturer, who states that she has found only bitterness in her search for happiness. She was a ... clerk when she met young Towne. According to her story family objections to their marriage led to unhappiness. Finally she was lured to an insane asylum and held prisoner several days. At a dance at the asylum Mrs. Towne recognized a friend in the orchestra and through him got in touch with her family, before her release could be effected she was spirited away, she says, to New York. Later she states her husband seemed to want to make up so she met him in Chicago where they rented an apartment and he left her shortly after she states.
