Description: Up for sale we have quite a rare find - a 1920s / 30s antique slouchy newsboy denim twill driving/newsboy cap made of denim twill in a very rare larger size. Newsboy caps from this era were crafted from durable fabrics like wool and cotton twill, and evoke the rugged yet stylish attire of factory workers, newsboys, and laborers form the 1900s to the 1940s/50s. These pieces are not just accessories - they're a rare slice of history. Why They're Significant The slouchy newsboy cap reflects the American spirit of hard work and resilience, with designs that prioritize functionality and style. Newsboy caps are iconic symbols of industrial America, often worn by men and boys in urban environments. Their connection to blue-collar heritage makes them highly sought after. Many of these caps were worn to destruction, and thus finding US-made newsboy caps from this era in good condition is quite difficult. These caps are more than just headwear - they're a tribute to America's working-class roots and are very unique pieces for collectors and style aficionados alike. This cap: The cap is is labeled "WE Seattle", and as is typical of a small manufactures from around 90 years ago, I cannot find any information regarding this maker. These caps were hand crafted and meticulously made by small shops to provide individuals with head gear that would withstand the test of time. This cap appears to be made of a heavy gray blue denim twill type fabric, and is lined with gold satin. Typical of the fashion of the period, the cap has a very wide, slouchy fit. Overall very good condition for its age (as was previously mentioned, these caps were often worn to destruction). It is quite remarkable to see one in this type of condition. There is a loose stitch or two (as pictured) which I imagine could be easily mended with a little DIY. Further, the antique caps that remain are often found in very small, unwearable sizes for many people. This one is quite rare in that it accommodates a larger sized head - the inner circumference is approximately 23.75". The bill measures 3", and the top diameter is 11.5". Please note that the inner circumference is my best measurement, but due to the non-structured nature of the inside band, please allow some difference due to error. The inner lining is free of any tears. Before you buy, please review all photos as they are part of the description. As this is a true vintage workwear piece, some minor imperfections should be expected, but any significant damage or wear will be exhibited. If you have any questions, please reach out. This great rare cap will be shipped quickly upon payment.
