A scarce volume of bound auction catalogs from the sale of Major William H. Lambert's library and collection in 1914. Lambert (1842-1912) enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1863 as a First Lieutenant, served in the New Jersey 27th Infantry and 33rd Infantry, and mustered out as a Major (Brevet, Vol) in 1865. He then had a successful career in various governmental departments. When he died in Philadelphia in 1912, Lambert had amassed quite a collection of ephemera and items related to President Abraham Lincoln over the course of 50 years. He had even served as the first president of the Lincoln Fellowship, a society formed for admirers of Lincoln in 1907. These auction catalogs, consisting of 1342 lots from his collection, are annotated with the sale price of each item in pencil. Accompanied by black and white photographs of the more notable items.
