Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Badge issued for the 1913 convention of the National Association of Letter Carriers, an early Postal Union organization. This was held early September in San Francisco, CA. I have always associated this with the "hoopla" surrounding the lead-up to the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The convention occurred just prior to the 1913 Portola Festival, and was likely part of the overall Chamber of Commerce push to gain attendance for the upcoming World's Fair. The City Fathers encouraged many organizations to hold their annual meetings in San Francisco, to boost overall tourism and gain familiarity ahead of the PPIE. There is a small piece missing that hung from the ring attached to the bottom of the top bar, which this was a stamp-shaped emblem as shown in the final image (this is of a different piece I found reference to NOT the item being offered). Otherwise about as made allowing for a Century of random storage. Uncommon and rarely seen. An example was listed in the Bill Weber auction, although not imaged, bringing $95; this is not Weber's piece. A loose drop (the "slug" shaped piece at bottom) sold in 2003 at $50+; complete badges have brought $75-$140. From my personal reference collection of California Exonumia. This will be well packaged for safe delivery, hence just a bit more for S&H. Please Note: We require payment within four days of purchase, unless you contact us for other arrangements in advance of purchase. Items not paid for within 4 days will have an automatic unpaid item case opened - please do not make a purchase unless you intend to honor your commitment. If you have any questions, please email. Buy or Bid with confidence: we have a heritage to 1937, and loads of good eBay Feedback, where I have been selling since 1997. Good Luck & Good Hunting! Tipsico Coin, Mon.- Fri. 10 AM - 4 PM MST.
