Description: "Such authentic replica lifebelts—the best ever created since Fosbery themselves!" — Ken Marschall This replica is crafted from 100% linen throughout. I dedicated over a year to sourcing original materials, focusing on thread counts, fabric weave, color, and thickness. Consider this lifebelt a faithful reproduction of those produced 112 years ago at the Fosbery factory. Due to the sourcing and costs of the linen and custom-made twill, supplies are limited. I had the opportunity to inspect and improve Ken Marschall's original lifebelt, taking detailed measurements to apply to all my replicas. This lifebelt features white linen fabric, linen twill tapes, hand-bleached linen whip stitch thread, and irregularly cut cork. Details:Fabric: 100% white linenTwill Tapes: Custom-made from natural-colored linen. Two 36-inch ties on each side, four total.Whip Stitching: Double-threaded and cross-stitched over twill tapes, using 100% hand-bleached linen for color matching.Dimensions: Approximately 49" long x 12" wideInternal Cork Blocks: Each block is irregularly cut, ranging from 1.7" to 2" thickWeight: Approximately 6 pounds This lifebelt features ink stamps, with ink applied to a rubber stamp and transferred onto the fabric. A version without ink stamps can also be ordered. While not all recovered lifebelts displayed ink markings, some did. Ink markings can be seen on lifebelts worn by Titanic survivors, including Mabel Francatelli and Duff Gordon, as well as on Ken Marschall's 'half-belt' and Dr. Frank Blackmarr's recovered lifebelt. The 'Front' and 'Fosbery' stamps were recreated from markings found on Ken Marschall's 'half-belt,' while the 'Inside Back' and 'Warranted to Pass' stamps were based on photographs of the Francatelli lifebelt. Refer to the last photo for a comparison between my ink markings and the original ones. Lifebelts without ink markings have likely faded over time. Similar to the originals, the stamps may appear slightly skewed due to the movement of the cork blocks. Each lifebelt is made to order and produced in limited quantities. Feel free to message me with any special requests. Note: Display stand and bust are not included. Disclaimer: This item is designed exclusively for use as a costume or display piece. Warning: The 1912 overhead-style cork lifebelt is not considered safe or effective for flotation. Using it as a flotation device may result in serious injury or death. Important Notice: My replica lifebelts do not conform to personal flotation device standards UL 12402 or ISO 12402.
