Description: Amazing antique Neapolitan Santon figure Identified by previous owner as 18th century (or possibly earlier) "pastori presepi" / non-religious / pastoral character from a French nativity tableaux This wonderful gentleman was hand crafted with incredible detail He's very tall at 20" He has a finely shaped head and handsome face with hand painted features and Hair is not carved but made of a wooly / mossy material He's very well dressed in an exquisite hand sewn olive green silk jacket with large buttons, ivory trim, and embroidered embellishments; a white collared shirt; print cotton vest and lace trimmed scarf; brown muslin cotton pants; and leather shoes with blue satin bows His hands appear to be composite material rather than clay He has holes in his heels from some kind of stand Very good condition overall, no odors, some cracking / loss on clay face, muslin is fraying/separating in several areas, may have other minor age-related conditions Metal stand will be included with sale Sold as shown, see photos Oh, to imagine what this doll has lived and survived through, from the French Revolution to now!
