1895 Latin AENEID, Virgil, THEODOR MOMMSEN NOBEL PRIZE BOOKPLATE

Description: 1895 copy in Latin of Virgil's Aeneid, Books 1-6 ONLY. Published in Leipzig by B. G. Teubnerl. This copy unique in that it has a bookplate noting that it was acquired from the Theodor Mommsen Nobel Prize for Literature, 1902. Mommsen died in 1903 so my guess is that he donated money to local schools. The bookplate has his image and signature and was created by Hans Seydel. The book is in good condition; it has some secondary school library markings on the title page and some fingerprint smudges on the first few pages.
