Peanut pattern around font, as well as ornate base. Beaded ring around underside of base also.... thick heavy glass!...This large size peanut pattern lamp is hand pressed in a 3 part mold...9"tall to brass threaded collar ...18" to top of chimney.....7"across the huge base....deep amethyst purple, which is the actual permanent color of the glass itself; not stained or flashed. Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage except one tiny chip on top edge of base. Original brass threaded Clinch on collar is in excellent condition.... nice and solid with flange. Old brass burner has no markings that I can see. ...it is dull and needs to be cleaned up, but is in good working condition. Wick is old and probably needs to be replaced. Glass chimney has the fancy ruffled serpentine rim. It is also in excellent condition with no chips or damage. It fits snug into the prongs of burner. I guarantee this antique lamp is authentic and from the late 1800s. Thick heavy glass. Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a box…and some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is often referred to as being "irradiated". There is however no trace of any radiation or anything harmful I guarantee...
