Description: This Scarce card was issued by the KINNEY BROS Tobacco Co. as an insert premium in their brands of Tobacco and Cigarettes during 1890. It is one from a series of 25 cards and is designated as N230 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue and is entitled “Famous Running Horses (English) . The front of the card features an image of the Horse and Rider and list recent race won by the pair. The back of the card features an advertisement for Kinney Tobacco and explains how to send away for a Large Size Premium Card. I am not sure who the lithographer was but it definitely has a Currier and Ives feel to it. This card features the Thoroughbred ROBERT THE DEVIL The card measures 2 3/4 inches by 1 3/8 approximately. The card does have some corner and edge wear, but is free from major creases. I have scanned the card, both front and back, fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for your self Cards from this series are a fantastic cross over collectable. They are a who’s who of the fastest and most famous horses from what is considered a golden era in Horseracing history. This would make a fantastic addition to any Horse Racing Memorabilia Collection. This would also make a fantastic display piece that would make an unforgettable gift for any Thoroughbred Breeder, Owner or Enthusiast Don't miss out on this over 125 year old piece (a true America antique).
