1875 Talladega Alabama African American Freed Slaves Record Book Black History

Description: 1875 Talladega Alabama Freedman Home records book. Most of the people listed as “inmates” can be found in the US Census records at the home. Some do not. I could talk for days on the fact the freed slaves were deemed as “inmates.” I would honestly think their treatment was worse than modern day inmates of our correctional facilities. I would imagine their living conditions were dramatically substandard compared to modern day incarcerated convicts. About 5 by 8 inch in size. Heavy stains. Creasing, folds, toning and wear. Some minor tears. No issues with the binding. Feel free to ask questions.
