(The text describes Alaska as having been recently purchased from the "great Russian Empire" in 1867. An early publication by Francis McNally, later of Rand, McNally fame. Illustrated paper covers, two engraved frontispieces, engraved title, text and maps, 124 pages. Contains 33 full-page wood-engraved maps fully hand colored (1 double-page of U.S. showing various Indian reservatiuons). Plus two thematic world maps, total of 35 maps with 18 of U.S. interest. Numerous wood engraved vignettes within the Descriptive Geography text. A complete and desirable early work by McNally with terrific maps. This 12 3/4" by 10" volume is complete, and presents beautifully, with no missing pages, and no tears or repairs. Spine is tight, with all pages and covers firmly attached. No library stamps or markings. No writing inside book, except for original owner's name written inside front cover. Minor soiling, as expected.
