Original publisher gilt-decorated cloth binding shows just general wear, including rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, some general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and some rubbing and soiling to the page edges. Otherwise this is a very well-preserved antique volume! Lettering and gilt ornamentation to the spine displays nicely from the shelf, and the gilt title lettering to the front board shines brightly! Internally, this volume is in great shape as well. Both boards and all page groupings remain firmly attached to the binding. Sturdy and square! Former owner’s signature visible to front free endpaper as well as the title page, and there is also a stamp visible on the half-title page. Otherwise clean with no bookplates, inscriptions or library markings to note. The text block of this volume is very clean overall. There is typical age-related toning to the pages, as well as light soiling and light foxing scattered throughout, ands some gentle corner creasing in spots, but otherwise this volume is quite clean and remains perfectly readable throughout! Illustrated throughout with engravings in the text.
