Description: Rare original 1863 copy of, "The Monitor; or, Jottings of a New York Merchant During a Trip Around the Globe. Embracing voyages over the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans; Arabian, Red and Mediterranean Seas; with descriptions of life, experiences and scenes in California, Australia, Island of Ceylon, Arabia, Egypt, Malta, Sicily, Italy, Switzerland, France, England, and Scotland." The book is overall in good condition with some signs of wear and age. The covers have some moderate wear. The binding is good and sound. There is an inked name inscription to the backside of the frontispiece. The last page of the preface has a chip out of the bottom corner which does not affect any text. The interior is lightly toned from age with the occasional light bit of foxing or grubbiness. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection like a minor interior crack, creased page corner, other small chip or tear, light bit of soiling, etc. Generally though, it's a good copy. The book is 448 pages long and is illustrated with a few black and white plates. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
