Description: An original 1862 hand signed “Two Dollars” Confederate note. The note was engraved with the vignette of J.P. Benjamin at left and the personification of the South striking down the Union at center. It has the hand inscribed serial number “33736” in red ink. The note was printed with a plain back. There were about 200 different people who signed for each treasury official. For the most part they were women, many the wives or daughters of Confederate soldiers who had been killed in action. The note will be shipped in a protective sleeve with a dated, hand signed Letter of Authenticity with a photograph of the currency above.
