Description: I have here for sale 2 scarce volumes of ALL THE YEAR ROUND which contain the first true editions of GREAT EXPECTATIONS by CHARLES DICKENS. Great Expectations was (like most of Dickens' works) first published in serial form, and in this case, in his periodical All the Year Round, and it these volumes ( 4 & 5 with the complete novel) I have for sale. Published in 1860 & 1861 by MESSRS CHAPMAN & HALL, London. Great Expectations is the thirteenth novel by Charles Dickens and his penultimate completed novel. It depicts the education of an orphan nicknamed Pip (the book is a bildungsroman, a coming-of-age story). It is Dickens's second novel, after David Copperfield, to be fully narrated in the first person Bound in green buckram boards. Gilt title lettering to the spines. Boards are a little age soiled. Board edges are rubbed and board corners are bumped. Bookplate on the inside of the front board. Pencil note on the ffeps. The title page has been pasted onto paper to strengthen and results in wrinkling. Light foxing and age soiling through the volumes. The remain tightly bound with no loose or missing pages. 25cm x 147cm. Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in packing paper ( I have changed from bubble wrap to try and reduce my use of plastic) and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is double wrapped in corrugated cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped.
