Description: 1850s use of U4, the buff 3 cent nesbitt envelope with short straight labels (Scott $80). No nesbitt crest; manuscript postmark K I Works, with Dec 24 (christmas eve) date. That's Katahdin Iron Works ME, which operated in 4 different periods from 1847-1940 in Piscataquis county. This is from the first period, 1847-60, though the 1853 pencil date may or may not be accurate. Nice use. Your satisfaction is guaranteed. APS member since 1992 and ebay seller since 1996.
