Description: Antique sugar bowl manufactured in the Staffordshire district circa 1850 England. The sugar bowl is devoid of either a printed or incised makers mark. I have been collecting antique transferware for 35 plus years, Mayer? This sugar bowl is hard to find in this beautiful pink, red color transfer, it is in used antique stained condition ~ (to be expected, over 150 years old) a couple of chips on the rim of the lid and there are several nicks' chips, from the sugar nippers being banged against the inside rim, these are NOT visible when the lid is in place. Approximately Overall width handle to handle 7 1/2" approximately 6" to the top of the finial. Top rim 5 5/8" wide x 4 1/4". The handles are in the shape of a shell and have pools of blue glaze underneath, one has a chip. NO hairlines.
