Description: This lot is an 1837 Capped Bust half dollar. It's 90% Silver and has beautiful iridescent toning. *DIE CRACKS* The obverse has a large die crack through the date and two of the stars. The reverse has a die crack through two of the leaves in the wreath and the entire 50 CENTS ending in the A of AMERICA. 1836 was the first year that the US Mint converted to steam power for striking coinage, so by 1837 they were striking Half Dollars making it a very historic change in the production of our coins. This piece is a great example of that era with it's reeded edge as one of the changes going on in the Industrial Revolution. It's priced way below list for it's grade. A very nice addition to any collection.
