In good condition. Moderate wear to extremities with scuffing to corner and joints. Light soiling and fading to furnace of cloth. Minor rippling to cloth on front and rear boards. Spine abraded with wear at ends. Head and tail slightly crushed with minor fraying. Spine label is abraded, gilt remains clean. Old hand inscription on fly “To the Orient Lodge” on fly. Williams Bookstore, Boston bookseller’s tag on pastedown. Light toning throughout text block with minor instances of foxing. A few instances of light finger soiling at the margins. Free of known marginalia. Binding somewhat tender, but intact. Please see photos. 1st Edition. Incredibly scarce. Nineteenth-century writers frequently attempted to link modern Freemasonry with the ancient rituals and myths of Egypt.
