Description: Offered is an Antique ~ Collectible ~ RARE ~ GN Great Northern Railway - Silver Dining Car Service Butter Pat ~ Top Intertwined GN in script lettering; bottom Hallmarked: GREAT NORTHERN RY. ~ 1847 ROGERS BROS. ~ SX0245 ~ SILVER SOLDERED. Beaded edge is around the 1860's era. Measures 2-11/16" square X 7-16" tall. Last photo insignia is off of the beaded GN Bowl I have listed, not this butter Pat, but it is the same backstop, just not very legible on this item. The Rogers Brothers helped start the Silver Electro-Plating process in 1847 in Hartford, and were helped in 1852 by the Meridan Britannia Co. financially to be successful. From 1862 to 1867, The Meridan Britannia Co. & Rogers Bros were fully merged into The Meridan Britannia Co. Item ships flat rate $12.50 USPS Priority Mail.
