Description: this is an original 1778 copper plate engraving which has come out of a quality leather bound publication . this is titled " the tomb of the fair matilda " this the tomb of matilda the daughter of the lord fitz - walter : it stands with another of that family in the priory church of little dunmow in essex . the monkish story is that this lady refusing to gratify the impure passion of king john and was poisoned by his order ! this original engraving measures 8" -- 10.3/4" and is in used condition with age browning . this historic engraving would look nice mounted and framed !
