It is said that the older the tree is, the more beautiful the bark will look. A special knife is used to cut a 40-cm-long slit in the bark, which is then peeled away from the trunk. Even a living tree will not die if it is not stripped whole at once. The bark can be regenerated because the parts that are stripped and the parts that are left are alternated. The regenerated bark is called "twice bark" and is used again as a valuable material.
