Description: 13 Books from the 1970s about FEMINISM - A wealth of information (actually MOST are from the 70s--some are earlier) Here are 13 books from the estate of an academic and feminist. THIS IS AN AMAZING COLLECTION. A person could learn a LOT with these books. Dear young feminists: This is where we've come from. You take it from here. OK?WOMEN: A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE, edited by Jo Freeman 2nd edition ©1975 THE POLITICS OF WOMEN'S LIBERATION, by Jo Freeman *signed* "To Sandy You're next I hope Jo" ©1975TOWARD A RECOGNITION OF ANDROGYNY, by Carolyn G. Heilbrun ©1973IN A DIFFERENT VOICE; PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORY & WOMEN'S DEVELOPMENT, by Carol Gilligan ©1982SEXUAL POLITICS, by Kate Millett ©1969FEMINISM: THE ESSENTIAL HISTORICAL WRITINGS, edited by Miriam Schneir ©1972 Essays, fiction, memoirs, and letters by the major feminist writers, including: Abigail Adams, Mary Wollstonecraft, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, George Sand, Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, John Stuart Mill, Emma Goldman, Margaret Sanger, Virginia Woolf and others. This book seems more fragile than the others. The pages are more brittle, spine is less sure. It may crack at any time. MALE AND FEMALE, A STUDY OF THE SEXES IN A CHANGING WORLD by Margaret Mead ©1949THE FEMINIST PAPERS: FROM ADAMS TO DeBEAUVOIR, edited by Alice S. Rossi, ©1973 including works by Abigail Adams, Mary Wollstonecraft, Margaret Fuller, John Stuart Mill, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Emma Goldman, Margaret Sanger, Jane Addams, Virginia Woolf, Margaret Mead, Simone de Beauvoir & 10 othersTHE SECOND SEX by Simone de Beauvoir, ©1949. This copy from 1970. A fair amount of writing in pencil throughout, primarily in the margins.SISTERHOOD IS POWERFUL (AN ANTHOLOGY OF WRITING FROM THE WOMEN'S LIBERATION MOVEMENT), Edited by Robin Morgan ©1970 This is a first edition. Sandy wrote her name on the inside on the first page. Has 4 pages of photos in the middle. There are a few notes in pencil in it. Fully erase-able. I think this book is a big deal. The list of contributors is simply vast: There are at least 100 of them. It includes essays, songs, poetry. Totally an important book for feminists. Tons of extra knowledge in the back. Indexes and other great stuff. HERLAND; a lost Feminist Utopian Novel by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. ©1979 This book actually says it is a first edition, but C. P. Gilman lived 1860-1935. So, that doesn't make sense to me. I guess it's the first edition of this publisher's paperback. As for condition: It does not appear that the previous owner even read this book. It is in pristine condition, though old. WOMEN & ECONOMICS; The economic factor between men and women as a factor in social evolution, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. It appears that this author wrote both fiction (previous book, #11) and this one, which is non-fiction, and says it originally published in 1898. That is not a typo. I think this is pretty much a textbook.ESSAYS ON SEX EQUALITY by John Stuart Mill and Harriet Taylor Mill, edited and with an introductory essay by Alice S. Rossi. ©1970. Again, there are lots of small pencil notes throughout. Please look at all the photos and read everything I've written about the condition and description of these books.
