Description: Here we have a 10 karat yellow gold classic ladies split shank, diamond accent ring featuring an oval natural blue zircon and two round full brilliant cut natural diamonds. Virtually all natural zircon is heated to bring out the color, and we can assume that this gem underwent this treatment; but this is a genuine, natural gemstone. The blue zircon measures 6.9 x 5.0 mm with an actual weight of 1.21 carats. This gem exhibits a really nice, medium light greenish blue color, is eye clean and is well cut. There is some minor "paper wear"; insignificant surface nicks and abrasions from being in a parcel paper with other gems. This is par for the course for zircons as almost all natural zircons develop abrasions over time as they are worn. Blue Zircon is the traditional December birthstone, but due to its rarity you will more often seen blue topaz substituted for it today. In this respect, it has become somewhat of a collector's gemstone. The diamonds average 1.7 mm in diameter with a combined weight of 0.04 carat. These diamonds have an average color graded at H/I and clarity at I-1/I-2 with good overall cut; they add a nice little bright sparkle and help bring out the color of the zircon. The blue zircon and the diamonds are all 100% genuine and natural, and the diamonds are completely untreated and unenhanced as well. This ring is solid gold and unworn; don't be duped into buying a cheap gold-plated ring or someone else's worn-out castoff!
