The book comes from the clippings morgue of the long-defunct New York Herald Tribune newspaper. The book was acquired by the Herald Tribune's long-time shipping reporter, James Duffy. Frank Braynard got the book from Duffy's widow. Now for the first time it is available for sale.The book measures 20" by 25" and has leather covers. Inside are 37 pages of clear mylar pockets with clippings attached to both sides of inner black paper sheets. All but the last page hold clippings. The book weighs a hefty seventeen pounds.The opening four pages have news stories about the construction and maiden voyage of the LUSITANIA in 1907 while the remainder are about the sinking. Some of the British newspapers included are the Daily Dispatch, The Daily Mail, The Evening News, The Pall Mall Gazette, Daily Express, The Daily News & Leader, The Journal of Commerce, Liverpool Evening Express, The Daily Graphic, The Manchester Dispatch, The Daily Telegraph, Lloyd's Weekly News, The Weekly Dispatch, and The People.While many clippings show tape marks, they are all readable and intact. The book itself is in very good condition.
